The 5th Grade class read the book Flat Stanley and used that as a stimulus to their own writing. In the book Stanley is flattened by a falling notice board and is sent by post to visit friends as the family cannot afford the airfare. Students then made their own "Flatties" and posted them to a friend or relative abroad. The recipient had to host the "Flattie" for three days and then post it back along with a journal of the activities they enjoyed together. The journal formed the basis of the books written by the class about their "Flattie" adventures.
